Physics Tutoring

Free Physics Tutoring in Gardiner Hall GN225

The goal of tutoring is to assist you in understanding main concepts in introductory physics and guide you to become an independent learner. GN225 is a great place to have a study group, find help for homework problems or get other physics questions answered.

Whay you can expect and what is expected from you:

  • Bring you textbook, class notes or other course resources with you. The tutors can show you how to use those efficiently and use them as reference.
  • Always attempt your assignments yourself before asking for help. Tutors are not there to complete assignments for you, this is your responsibility! If you got stuck explain what you have tried and the tutors will steer you in the right direction.
  • Tutors do not have the solutions to your homework problem. This means that they have to go through the problem solutions steps themselves and do not have ready made answers in their head. Since one of the big goals of learning physics is the problem solving process, it is very valuable to have the relevant approaches modeled.
  • If several students work on the same assignment in the tutoring room, the tutors will encourage them to join a study group and work together.
  • Intermittently you will be asked to work the next steps on your own. The tutor might help others in the mean time or simply give you a chance to figure it out.
