Our department has sixteen faculty members and over forty graduate students who engage in a wide variety of research projects and other educational pursuits in many different areas of physics such as Engineering Physics, Physics Education, Optics & Materials Physics, Particle & Nuclear Physics, and Geophysics.

Along with education and research, on the main campus of NMSU, our researchers have a long and established collaborative history with national facilities.

We also have generous alumni and active emeriti who not only teach courses, mentor graduate students but help with events such as the annual Physics Olympics.

We have a diverse and friendly professional staff who are dedicated to the smooth running of our department.

We have and international group of Graduate and Undergraduate students who are very active in research, tutoring and in the Society of Physics Students.
